Humber Hawks take first set 26-24 against MSVU Mystics

The Humber Hawks beat the MSVU Mystics 26-24 in their first set during the opening game of the CCAA Women’s National Volleyball Championships March 10-12.

Today’s games will determine placements in the playoffs. All games are being held in the Holland College Centre for Engagement.

An estimated 250 people showed up to watch the games today, with Stratford Elementary students making a special appearance.

The players of both teams were introduced with a spectacular light show, and then the game began.

The first set in a best-of-five game was fast-paced, with the first point going to the Hawks.

However, trailing 13-9 the Hawks called for a time-out.

The Mystics held the lead until late in the game, when the two teams tied at 24-24.

When the Hawks pulled ahead, the Mystics called a time-out.

The Hawks proceeded to win the set by two, resulting in loud cheering by their supporters.

The Hawks are currently ranked second in the division of eight, with the Mystics placing seventh.
