Wanted: One part-time assistant sergeant-at-arms

The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island is seeking a part-time Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms.

Al McDonald is the Sergeant-at-Arms.

“They will be providing support for myself and security within the legislative precinct and assisting on security matters as necessary,” he said.

Security staff are expected to maintain high professional, ethical and confidentiality standards when interacting with the general public, MLAs and the media.

“The successful applicant has experience working in a professional security role.”

Experience implementing security procedures, supervising staff in a security environment, excellent communication skills and a clear criminal record check are all requirements.

The applicant’s ability to work with Microsoft Office and Windows 7 are important. Knowledge of French, CPR / First Aid and of parliamentary procedure will be considered asset qualifications.

The position was created in 2007 to support the legislative precinct.

Legislative Assembly employees are non-partisan.
